Week 9-Becoming a Teacher

After almost completing this course I have gained more passion to become a teacher.  I would say that my service learning experience would have played a big part in the decision to stay in the teaching field and to finish my education.

From an early age, I have been able to bond with children pretty easily. I was the oldest of 6 children, and have worked around children a lot in my life. I love how they are able to express themselves so easily, and don't know of the pressures of the world and are able to just be themselves. They are so funny.  I used to be a nanny and helping the children I nannied with homework gave me satisfaction when they came to me with a question on their homework and I was able to explain it to them, and then it would finally click.

That is where my passion for teaching began. Moving forward with this class and doing the service learning only confirmed to me that this is what I wanted to do. I loved being in the classroom, and working with the children. I loved working with the teacher and being able to talk and ask her questions, and she was able to calm some of my concerns. I feel that teaching is the career path for me. I know it will be hard, and require a lot of work. But it will be work that I will be excited about, and have a purpose.
